Job Description

Job Summary The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive Human Resources support to the daily operations while ensuring exceptional customer service. Functions to support include but are not limited to: HRIS, Benefits, Workers Compensation, Employee Relations and Payroll. Additionally, the HR Generalist partners with management to foster an environment of trust, respect and promotes the company.

Work schedule is mid shift 11AM-7:30PM or Noon - 8:30PM. Wednesday - Sunday or Thursday - Monday.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effectively managing all personnel information in designated HRIS system. This includes but is not limited to: new hire documentation, termination, payroll and benefits information, attendance tracking and other personnel updates.
  • Run reports, analytics and perform audits as needed for management team and HQ People Ops. team.
  • Responsible for administering medical, life insurance, 401K and other benefits on an ongoing basis per established standard operating procedures.
  • Liaison between West Coast Employees and HQ Payroll & Benefits Manager's to ensure information is captured properly, employees are being paid and benefits are being administered.
  • Maintain accurate payroll personnel files with required information such as but not limited to: company, state and government documentation, direct deposit and garnishments.
  • Track and enter employee paid time off, bereavement and other leave of absence events in designated system.
  • Conduct employee verifications and handle unemployment claims as needed.
  • Perform outstanding customer service functions by answering questions and proactively engaging with employees, contractors, consultants and other visitors.
  • Partner with National Safety Manager and West Coast management team to report all accidents/ incidents and follow through with these per standard operating procedures.
  • Support HQ functions as needed to ensure that trainings, meetings and other events are being delivered properly.
  • Exercise individual judgment while managing employee relation issues, workers compensation and other safety issues and bring them to management's attention as needed.
  • Support management with disciplinary actions, performance management and communication to all employees as needed.
  • Act as a key player in the development of the Human Resources department
  • Lead various HR projects based on quarterly goals set by the General Manager for West Coast Facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Psychology or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in various Human Resources Functions
  • 2+ years supervisory experience and ability to indirectly supervise others
  • Strong knowledge of non-exempt employment laws, benefit administration, payroll processing and government and state laws in IL such as: FLMA, EEOC, ADA and others
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing, food processing or related environment
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently with minimal supervision as well as work cross- functionally
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Bi-lingual required ( Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog) required
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, data-driven skill set
  • Computer savvy, well versed in Microsoft Outlook and Google + office suite products
  • High attention to detail and exceptional degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a continuous changing environment and adapt to constant change
  • Available to be on call as needed for day and night shifts
