Job Description

Temp to hire position with our client after 3 months for an experienced IT Technician. 

 

Scope/ Overview of Position:

 

The IT Technician is responsible for communication infrastructure installation, maintenance, repair, service and also for computer systems and computer peripherals maintenance and repairs (hardware and software) including digital video surveillance systems and will participate, as required, in enterprise wide initiatives.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Installation of Structured cabling and devices for Data and voice applications; includes Wi-Fi, Audio Visual, and CCTV. It includes Cat5, Cate5e, Cat6 and fiber optic cables,

  • Termination, testing, reporting, and labeling per specifications and drawings

  • Installation of network racks and cabinets

  • Complete required paperwork including installation checklist

  • Document network infrastructure (diagrams)

  • Analyze and fix network-related problems reported by users;

  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations

  • Experience with RF Scanners and Label Printers / Zebra Printers (configuration/troubleshooting)

  • Installing, configuring and upgrading operating systems, software and hardware

  • Strong ability to troubleshoot software and hardware (specifically PC’s and notebooks)

  • Deploy, support and maintain a fleet of laptops, workstations, handheld devices and peripherals

  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals.

  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting of label/laser printers

  • Supports user account information including rights, security and systems groups.

  • Trains employees

  • Identifies and repairs product failures, orders and replaces parts as needed

  • Installation & maintenance of video surveillance equipment (analogue and IP)

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and ensure all employees under their supervision do the same.

  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

     

      Qualifications, Education and Experience Required:

  • A+ Certification would be an asset
  • College degree would be a plus
  • +5 years of relevant experience
  • Be experienced and able to use hand tools and small power tools
  • Experience & knowledge in video surveillance systems, telecommunications & electrical is an asset
  • Previous experience in a Logistics business is an asset
  • Previous experience & knowledge in alarm systems and access control systems is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and logical analysis skills, as well as strong technical background.
  • Strong documentation and/or technical writing skills.
  • Good communication skills.
