Job Description

Direct hire opportunity for an experienced Manager of Materials and Glass Science. Minimum of 5 years' experience and minimum of a Bachelor's degree preferably in Chemistry Engineering or Materials Engineer.

JOB SUMMARY: Reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and is primarily responsible for identifying products or product extensions that provide enhanced value to customer allowing increased sales and barrier to entry for competition. This position will lead the development of Glass Material Science expertise to address increasing complex customer requests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (including other duties as may be assigned)

* Coordinate with Sales and Product Innovation to identify and develop new product offerings

* Provide support of high end product offerings through the outsourcing or development Material Science / Analytical support

* Protect intellectual property for products and manufacturing processes

* Coordinate projects leveraging expanding partnership with primary research universities and 3rd party vendors

* Manage data development to support regulatory filings by our company and our customers

* Provide advanced training for PPG Quality staff on Glass Material Science

* Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and self-manage time to insure that project timelines are maintained

* Supports GMS initiative through team participation

* Observe all safety precautions, rules and regulations


* Minimum of Bachelor's degree (Prefer Materials Engineer or Chemistry Engineer)

* Minimum of 5 years' experience

* Strong Microsoft Suite Skill set with focus on Excel and PowerPoint

* Strong Statistical Software skill set (i.e. Minitab, JMP)
