SUMMARY:
  Under minimal supervision will pull and/or prepare outgoing orders for prompt and accurate shipment.   Responsible for receiving all incoming orders, including visual inspection, confirmation to match purchase order, labeling as needed and entry into the ERP system (Bell Hawk) if required.  Assist in shipping and/or receiving for North Leominster Realty tenants.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

A.    Prepares pre-picked merchandise from manufacturing for shipping according to customer specifications and Sales Order as follows:

1.    Compare identifying information and quantities on the pick list against the sales order, verifying items counts and indicating any discrepancies.

2.    Utilizing the pick list, obtain the shipper number in Bell Hawk and generate a shipping label.

3.    Wrap and/or strap boxes accordingly for shipment.

B.    Picks merchandise from manufacturing inventory to fill sales orders, generating a pick sheet in Bell Hawk system to adjust inventory counts.  Forward pick sheet to Custom Service for verification of shipping method and address.  Upon approval of pick sheet, complete shipment. 

C.   Packages items in containers and wrap/strap so that the shipping label is visible.

D.   Generates bill of lading and schedules shipment for pick up with the appropriate carrier.

E.    Visually inspects all incoming orders for visible damage and stages for receiving.  If any visible damage is noted, contacts Purchasing to determine if delivery should be refused.

F.    Inspects incoming shipments against purchase order to confirm receipt of correct item and quantity, if delivery is on time or late, if any items are backordered and/or if any obvious damage to item inside packaging. 

G.   Alerts purchasing of any problems and if necessary segregates and labels items as “Awaiting Disposition” until problems are resolved.

H.   Assists in following up on any shipping damages with carriers.

I.      Updates purchase order with date received, making note of backorders or other information, and forwards to Purchasing.

J.    Stages items for routing to the appropriate department and/or scans into Bell Hawk system as necessary. 

K.    Forwards any certificates of conformity, testing or analysis to Quality Control department.

L.    Forwards any tools received with calibration certificates or those known to need calibration prior to use to the Quality Control department prior to delivery to the buyer.  

M.   Labels any broken down packages so items are easily identifiable if master packing labels are destroyed.

N.   Labels any items with a shelf life or expiration date that do not already have a label affixed by the manufacturer with an expirations sticker, utilizing the manufacturer’s guidelines. 

O.   Distributes incoming mail/deliveries to designated mailboxes or recipient in a timely manner.

P.    Processes return shipments (RMA’s) and delivers them to or notifies the appropriate department(s).

Q.   Performs housekeeping and other duties as required to maintain a safe and organized work area.

R.   Reports any work related injuries or unsafe work conditions and/or all alleged accidents immediately to Lead Person or Manager.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:  Ability and willingness to work during a 24-hour period, weekends and holidays if necessary. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Job Hazards include working with machinery and a seasonal hot and cold environment.   

 

EDUCATION/RELATED EXPERIENCE:  High school graduate or equivalent.  Previous shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment.  Solid computer skills with knowledge of shipping software programs, MS Word, Excel and email systems.  Knowledge of MS Outlook a plus. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be able to read, write and speak English and be able to do basic math equations.  Must have a positive attitude, a satisfactory work history, maintain a good attendance record, and work well with co-workers.  Must have attention to detail.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must deal with public in a professional business atmosphere.  Must be able to obtain a fork truck license or certificate.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time.
