Transportation Customer Service Coordinator

Position Overview

Temp to hire position acts as the transportation coordinator for the organization located in Swedesboro, NJ, with an annual domestic spend of approximately $20M. The role reports to the Director of Transportation and is responsible for working with clients help with aspects of the transportation network consisting of over 350 stores. This role will manage special projects, new stores, customer service, and some analytics.

Essential Job Functions

Cross train and back up transportation coordinators. Assuming duties and responsibilities as needed, managing and forecasting truck capacity, and coordinating deliveries with final mile carriers and retail store locations. This may span both first or second shift as needed.

Responsible for managing requests that fall outside of the normal operating process, These include customer orders through the store, expedited store deliveries, bulk purchases, ad and set merchandise to sample stores, donations, return to vendor, and expedited fed Ex shipments. The Transportation coordinator will manage the programs from start to finish, tracking each movement, and working with the home office to receive the allocations, waiving them at the DC, and tracking to final delivery address

Responsible for answering e-mails and customer (store) issues. This may include but not limited to pallet quality, delivery accuracy, on time deliveries, special deliveries, canceled deliveries, missing or extra pallets delivered, and final mile carrier behavior.

Manage the current pack away process for stores returning season merchandise to terminals around the country. Ensure accuracy of return, storage, and re delivery of pallets.


  • Ability to work independently and interface across internal departments and the organizations vendors and carrier community.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining deadlines, and possess a sense of urgency
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Able to identify problems and resolve in a timely manner
  • Ability to interact with senior management.
  • Excellent analytical and good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Poses a solid understanding of Logistics/ Distribution principles, practices and systems

Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Logistics, Mathematics or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred


Minimum 2 years experience in supply chain, logistics or distribution operations preferred.
