Job Description

Lyneer Staffing Solutions is seeking an Experienced Yard Jockey

START: ASAP

Hourly Rate: $16.50/HR

Hours -2nd shift - 2:30pm-10:30pm

OT: Must work Overtime Weekend (Sat/Sun) on rotating schedule every 5th week 6:30am-2:30pm

Experience: To have experience as Jockey Shag driver.


JOB SUMMARY:

1. Drive a yard jockey from dock to dock.
2. Pick-up and deliver trailers to specified docking areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Must meet the minimum physical requirements stipulated in Section 391.41 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
2. Move freight in all types, sizes, and weights. **Weights per single carton may be in excess of 70 pounds.** A minimum lifting capacity is 51 pounds.
3. Some items moved with hand truck or cart that is operated by the employees.
4. Some large and heavy articles may require handling by two or more employees.
5. Some freight movements require the use of load bars, jacks, etc., of various types and sizes.
6. Movement of freight includes:
A. Continuous lifting and carrying of freight in various sizes and weights. Weights may vary from several pounds to an excess of 70 pounds to be carried/lifted by an employee.
B. Loading freight from the dock into trailers parked at the dock.
C. Unloading freight from trailers parked at the dock.
D. Moving freight from one location on the dock to another location with the equipment described above.
E. Continuous lifting and bending and the use of the above described equipment in ranges of moderate to extreme hot, cold, or damp weather.
7. In making a pick-up or delivery of freight, in some cases, the employee is required to lift the freight from ground level to the rear of the trailer or truck. This lift is a distance of approximately four feet.
8. Move the freight from the rear of the trailer to the front or from the front to the rear of the trailer to move the freight to the tailgate and then physically remove the freight from the tailgate to ground level.
9. Driving a truck and/or tractor/trailer combination with POWER STEERING.
10. Employee must be able to hook up and disconnect yard jockey which includes:
A. Climbing up and down of tractor - approximately four feet.
B. Cranking (by hand) the dolly wheels; depending on the trailer conditions, this may require two individuals. Exertion as compared to lifting fifty pounds minimum.
C. The above may be required to be done several times during one trip.
D. Pre-trip and post-trip inspection of equipment.
11. Ability to read, write, and complete required paperwork and understand bills of lading, manifest, and freight bills.
12. Communicate verbally and in writing to supervisors and associates.
13. Is available for work 52 weeks per year, 5 days per week, and is available to work overtime when deemed necessary by management. Overtime may be due during the week and/or on the weekend.
